Dermapen Micro-Needling Collagen Therapy

Dermapen is Your Ultimate Anti-Ageing Tool

Dermapen, our favourite anti-ageing weapon, features tiny needles that stimulate healthy collagen production and epidermal growth, effectively restoring and rejuvenating your skin. And the best part? It achieves all this with minimal downtime!
Dermapen cartridges are for single-use. Silvia Lema Skin Specialist takes utmost care to prevent infections and uses only medical-grade equipment during and after needling.

Frequently Asked Questions about Micro-Needling

The Dermapen stimulates collagen induction by harnessing your skin’s ability to re-grow and repair itself in response to micro-damage. This handheld device delivers up to 1,300 vertical micro-punctures per second, boosting collagen, elastin, and normalising various skin functions. It also promotes blood flow to the treated area. Afterward, hyaluronic acid and other medical products containing vitamins and minerals are applied, penetrating far deeper than regular topical creams. Micro-needling is, therefore, highly effective on various skin types and conditions.

Micro-needling is ideal for fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, dullness, mild rosacea, stretch marks, acne, surgical and trauma scars.

Procedure times typically range between 40 to 90 minutes per session with a 24-hour downtime to reduce redness. For optimum results, we recommend about 6 sessions. You'll notice improvements within 6 to 8 days.
Micro-needling is suitable for all skin types.

While micro-needling can be slightly uncomfortable, the advanced technology of the Dermapen allows customization based on client concerns, pain thresholds, and desired results. We also offer topical anaesthetics, although we prefer not to use them.

Allergic reactions and side effects are unlikely as the treatment is minimally invasive. The healing process is quick, and aftercare can be administered at home.

Side effects experienced with Dermapen will usually subside within 48 hours. These may include erythema, stinging, itching, and skin tightness.

Yes! Some people experience red and dry skin, while others have flaky-dry red skin. Many may develop pimple-like lumps on their face, but these usually disappear in 3 days. These are all completely normal results of your skin purging itself of toxins, confirming that the treatment is working.

On day 1, you may notice some erythema and redness, the severity of which depends on how aggressive your treatment was. By day 2, this will reduce to a pink hue, similar to sunburn. You may also experience some swelling. On day 3, your skin may still have a pinkish tint, but the swelling will have subsided.

Micro-needling is not recommended for pregnant or lactating women for several reasons. The needles produce micro-injuries which trigger a natural wound-healing response. This, along with the production of new collagen, requires vitamins and nutrients which are otherwise needed for the baby.

It's crucial to let your skin breathe for 24 to 48 hours after the treatment. During this time, skin channels are open, and applying makeup can cause further irritation. However, for clients who absolutely need it, Silvia Lema Skin Specialist offers medical foundation.

Each session is tailored to the individual, using Meso glide combinations and peels exclusively designed to enhance micro-needling. This includes power peptides, multi-vitamins, potent antioxidant cocktails, intensive moisture infusion serums, and clarifying brightening serums. The treatment concludes with Hyla Active 3D Sculptured Mask for potent hydration and healing, along with Dermalux LED Wave Therapy.
